MORE ON PRE-WAR TAGALOG MOVIES: MILA DEL SOL, LEOPOLDO SALCEDO, CARLOS PADILLA IN "HIYAS NG DAGAT" (1941): A FILM BY MANUEL CONDE

Manuel Conde's third film, LVN's Hiyas ng Dagat dramatized "the carefree lives of people who depend on the sea for a living." It was the "story of five young people--- two simple-minded sea folks and three wordly wise townfolks." For Hiyas ng Dagat, Conde was named best director of 1941.
